Matías Giliberto was born in Rosario, Argentina, but lives in Barcelona, where he launched his new project Matu Mati, a blend of Latin American cumbia, traditional rhythms and folk songs that fuses different styles to create “high-speed music”. He is currently touring as a guitarist with Manu Chao, collecting diverse sounds, landscapes and experiences. His songs bring together neighbourhood stories, travel memories and a vision of music as a tool for sharing and transformation. For Matu Mati, music has always been an instrument of political resistance and social redemption, a way of uniting the masses by narrating everyday reality, breaking down social barriers and decolonising culture. In Santarcangelo, he will be accompanied by La Hierba Mala y su Orquesta, an ensemble led by Colombian singer Kimberly Uribe that combines cumbia, reggae, hip hop and patchanka into an energetic and engaging sound, weaving together Latin American and Mediterranean influences in a festive and collective atmosphere, with a rich sound made of wind instruments, percussion and ever-changing rhythms.
