a network for one-on-one creations
blOOm, network dedicated to one-on-one creation founded in 2025 out of a shared vision by Fondazione Armunia, IRA Institute, Santarcangelo dei Teatri, Sardegna Teatro, and Triennale Milano Teatro, returns for its second year of activities, featuring a schedule of residencies and public presentations hosted within the programming of the five partner institutions. Following the invitation extended to Muna Mussie, the network has chosen this year to support the research work of the artistic duo composed of Gaetano Palermo and Michele Petrosino.
blOOm invites audiences to an intimate and personal experience—designed for one spectator at a time—prioritizing direct exchange between the companies and the public. The initiative unfolds by proposing a shift in perspective within artistic creation: not for large-scale productions, but an intimate dimension that deconstructs traditional dynamics of viewing and participation. Closeness, depth, and dedication: these are three key words in the development of the initiative, which each year supports an Italian company in creating unconventional works. The only rule: one person at a time.
the project: STANZA
Stanza is a one-on-one performance of a durational and installation-based nature. The title refers to the space that, for several hours each day, the performer inhabits in a state of voluntary abandonment with eyes closed, and into which the audience, one at a time, is invited to enter for a limited time. The presence of the performer’s body, between collapse and sleep, generates an intimate and suspended exposure that focuses attention on the time shared with the spectator’s body, at once guest and intruder.
The room becomes a metaphor for the thresholds that seal off sleep: walls, doors, windows, eyelids. Stanza as a refuge, a device of visibility, and an antechamber to a world without sleep and without wakefulness. In this threshold between intimacy and exposure, the work interrogates sleep not only as a condition of shared vulnerability, but also as a critical figure of the present: an ambiguous space between abandonment and capture, between the possibility of escape and a form of hypnosis, against the backdrop of a historical era marked by logics of surveillance, extraction, and control.

Gaetano Palermo and Michele Petrosino are an artistic duo working at the intersection of choreography and the visual arts. Their work explores the ontology of performance at the boundary between reality and fiction, through the lens of movement and stillness. Their work has been supported and presented by festivals and institutions including La Biennale di Venezia, Triennale Milano Teatro, Santarcangelo Festival, Teatro Regio Parma, Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia, Gender Bender Festival, MAMbo Bologna, and Kilowatt Festival. Since 2023, the duo has been supported by the national dance production organization KLm – Kinkaleri, Le Supplici, mk.
