Anni Poulakka & Jaakko Pallasvuo / Rotterdam, Netherlands / Helsinki, Finland

October 14, 20177.00 pm

Anni Puolakka makes performances, videos and installations in which situation-specific and biographical material are incorporated into fictional worlds. The pieces play with the boundaries and potential of human animals who seek meaningful and vibrant – sometimes drowsy and dirty – involvement with other beings, objects and surroundings. Anni’s works have been recently shown at TENT Rotterdam, Performance Space (Sydney), Kiasma Museum of Modern Art (Helsinki) and W139 (Amsterdam).
Jaakko Pallasvuo (b. 1987) lives in Helsinki. His work deals with hierarchies, feelings and social arrangements. He makes videos, ceramics, texts and images. In recent years Pallasvuo’s works have been exhibited at Kunsthalle St. Gallen, Rotterdam International Film Festival, CAC Vilnius, Museum Of Modern Art in Warsaw, November Film Festival and CCA Derry~Londonderry, among others. His first book, Scorched Earth, was published by Arcadia Missa in 2015.
During their second stay at the Santarcangelo they will continue working on a collaborative project, the Sacre video trilogy that started in 2014. They will begin the research, writing and filming process for the final part, Sacre 3.
