The Corona virus has imposed a change of proxemic space in every kind of relationship, jeopardising the great game of seduction. In courtship, the kiss, the first step towards intimate contact, has become off-limits and will probably have to wait to give way to a slow and romantic courtship. Practices in Amorous Contact at a Distance is born from the full lockdown which came from these limits. Reinventing new modes of approach, tenderness and dialogue while interposing the required safe distance. Using unique extensions, the spectator is involved in an intimate relationship with the artist who approaches them with subtle, natural prostheses to caress, love or transmit feelings which are more caustic and provocative. All at a distance of one metre.
The production of Katia Giuliani, an artist based in Florence, is the result of an investigation into the relationships, conditioning, and behavioural reference models of contemporary society. Freedom, love, limit, presence, link, connection, and ritual are the recurrent concepts of a research that aims to overcome the barriers of the mind and is expressed through performances, installations, happenings and public art.
