With My body solo, the choreographer and dancer Stefania Tansini continues her research on bodies and movement through authentic expression. This work started during the first lockdown, when the flow of life slowed down. An extraordinary moment during which the word “body” strongly emerged in its many existential dimensions: material, concrete, sensitive, expressive, emotional and yearning. On stage, Stefania exposes herself with generosity through accepting her own precariousness, establishing a process of intimate, delicate and profound involvement with the audience. In a half black and half gold space, a sound welcomes the entrance of the viewers, and three lights guide their encounter with the movement, the breath and the voice of the dancer, which does not carry meaning, but breath and music, capable of clinging to the visible shape of the body. My body is an affirmation of life, an individual “yes” that takes on meaning as part of a larger design, relating to the elements surrounding it. What it aims at is the encounter with the other. A necessity, an unforced vital urge, already present as the body exists and acts.
As the individual is not just a single, separate being, but by their very existence presupposes a collective relationship, it follows that the process of individuation must lead to more intense and broader collective relationships and not to isolation. Carl Jung
