My Body solo

With My body solo, the choreographer and dancer Stefania Tansini continues her research on bodies and movement through authentic expression. This work started during the first lockdown, when the flow of life slowed down. An extraordinary moment during which the word “body” strongly emerged in its many existential dimensions: material, concrete, sensitive, expressive, emotional and yearning. On stage, Stefania exposes herself with generosity through accepting her own precariousness, establishing a process of intimate, delicate and profound involvement with the audience. In a half black and half gold space, a sound welcomes the entrance of the viewers, and three lights guide their encounter with the movement, the breath and the voice of the dancer, which does not carry meaning, but breath and music, capable of clinging to the visible shape of the body. My body is an affirmation of life, an individual “yes” that takes on meaning as part of a larger design, relating to the elements surrounding it. What it aims at is the encounter with the other. A necessity, an unforced vital urge, already present as the body exists and acts.

As the individual is not just a single, separate being, but by their very existence presupposes a collective relationship, it follows that the process of individuation must lead to more intense and broader collective relationships and not to isolation. Carl Jung

Stefania Tansini graduated from Accademia Paolo Grassi. She danced for Romeo Castellucci, Cindy Van Acker, Simona Bertozzi, Luca Veggetti, Enzo Cosimi and Ariella Vidach. She also collaborates as a dancer with Motus. She has started on her authorial research journey on the body, pursued through choreographic projects, such as My body trio, My body solo, Punti di ristoro, La grazia del terribile, Questione di vita o di morte and Linea umana. Tansini has collaborated with other artists on several projects: with photographer Luca del Pia for the video projects Stupid Girls and Due madri, with composer Paolo Aralla and Guido Barbieri for the performance Dove finisce il volo, with Paolo Aralla for the show Interno notte and with Secret Theatre Ensemble and Tempo reale for Utera, a performance with biodynamic sensors.
