FAKA is more than just a simple duet: it is a cultural movement, established by Fela Gucci and Desire Marea, that explores a combination of forms of expression, from sound to live performance, from literature to photography, to create an eclectic aesthetic that reflects the thinking of these two artists on belonging to the black queer community in post-colonial Africa. Influenced by Gqom, a musical style born in Durban, South Africa, as a minimalist version of African house music, they explore love, identity and relations that cross over genres and forms, in a bomb of energy that makes it impossible to stay seated.
