ENERGEIA [ unplugged ] is a study of the anatomy and closeness of the gaze, a choreography of skin, a poetics of the silent body.
“What are the public images that are imprinted on your retina and that even after a long time continue to be alive in your visual memory?” Paola Bianchi asked this question to about forty people and received more than 350 images, fragments of events stopped on an analogical or digital carrier that went to compose a sort of retinal-mnemonic archive partially shared by a heterogeneous group of people. ENERGEIA [ unplugged ] is born from a long process of embodying a selection of those images, an in-depth analysis of space, of tension, of forces, of the rhythm generated by each immortalised action, of the before and the after, of what is beyond the image.
With her works, choreographer and dancer Paola Bianchi participates in national and international festivals. With the ELP project, her investigation focuses on the relationship between the descriptive word and dance through the audio transmission of posture archives, a process that is generating a series of choreographic actions.
Energeia is a word that indicates an act of transformation, or the being in action, according to a use that began to impose itself with Aristotle. Alongside the activities that produce works, there are others in which act and work coincide. Such is dance, in which energeia is both the subject and object of experience.
