SIKSA is a punk-feminist duo from Gniezno (Poland) with a punk literary and theatrical background. The band is formed by bassist Buri and performer, singer and spoken word poet Alex Freiheit, and organise concerts, events and workshops against the patriarchy and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. In Polish, “siksa” is a derogatory term used for an attractive girl: it means stupid, immature, childish. Alex and Buri decided to avenge it, to emancipate ordinary people from the simple actions of everyday life. With its raw and radical message of vulnerability and fierce defiance, combined with a powerful voice and sound, SIKSA has shocked and divided the Polish underground scene. Pursuing their mission, the duo has played over 250 concerts in Poland and Europe, in squats, contemporary art galleries and international festivals.
