Since 2013, the itinerant short film festival Quartiers Lointains has travelled to France, the United States and several African countries. Its sixth season returns to Africa, offering a selection of afrofuturistik short films that interrogate the African imaginary and its oral and visual transmission in the 21st century. Can Africa project itself into the future? Can it tell its stories in more experimental and unusual ways than humanitarian and cinematic images of hardship and suffering have done so far? Afrofuturistik seeks to question this perception of Africa with a collection of plural and vibrant short films.
