HOW IMPORTANT IS IT FOR THE PLANET TO CHOOSE HOW AND WHAT TO BUY?

Santarcangelo dei Teatri believes in carefully choosing with whom to collaborate, even when it comes to purchasing. Choosing products from ethical and sustainable supply chains, as transparent as possible, is everyone’s responsibility that, if widely shared, can make a big difference.

Santarcangelo Festival is committed to the quality of food, considering it a fundamental element in the creation of community as well as a crucial aspect of safeguarding the Planet. The staff canteen and the Festival Centre restaurant St’Orto serve local and seasonal fruit and vegetables supplied by the Scarpellini farm and grown with the integrated pest control method. The other ingredients are supplied to us by our partner MARR SpA: dry or long-life ingredients, such as cooked legumes, are organic, while meat and fish are of Italian origin. For beverages, beer is supplied by Forst, while wine and drinks are supplied respectively by Tenuta Sant’Aquilina and Galvanina, both biological producers in Rimini. The Festival Center bar, Ri-sorso, curated by Necessaire Bistrot, serves cocktails using parts of fruit and vegetables that usually get discarded.

We have chosen to eliminate beef and veal from our menu, since they have the highest environmental impact among all meats, and to offer many vegetarian and vegan options, thus reducing Co2 emissions due to the consumption of animal products. In addition, also thanks to the collaboration with Tempi di Recupero, we minimise food waste in our canteen through creative recovery recipes.

Finally, our focus on purchasing also involves our publishing materials, which are printed on FSC-certified paper, thanks to the collaboration with our main partner Gruppo Maggioli.
